The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party, has reshuffled its parliamentary leadership, appointing Hon. Anna Adeke, as Party Whip following the defection of her predecessor, Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi, to the ruling National Resistance Movement Party.

The change was formally communicated on the Floor of Parliament by Speaker Anita Annet Among during Wednesday’s plenary sitting, citing a letter from the FDC Secretary General dated 16 March 2026.

“I am in receipt of a letter… appointing Hon. Anna Adeke Ebaju as Party Whip replacing Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi,” Among announced, before congratulating both legislators - Adeke on her elevation, and Nsibambi on his move to the ruling party.

The position of Party Whip is central to enforcing party discipline, coordinating legislative strategy, and ensuring attendance and voting cohesion among MPs, functions governed by the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Uganda.

Adeke’s appointment comes at a sensitive moment, as Parliament races through critical budget stages for the 2026/27 financial year, where party cohesion is crucial in shaping debate and influencing outcomes.

The Soroti District Woman Representative is a long-standing member of the FDC and has built a reputation for her articulate contributions on governance, youth empowerment, and accountability issues.
